About Melton
Q: Where is Melton located?
A: We are based out of Tulsa, Ok, but have terminals in Birmingham, AL, Masury, OH, Laredo, TX, and El Paso, TX.
Q: Where does Melton run?
A: We are a 48 state and Canada flatbed irregular route carrier.
Q: How often do drivers travel to Canada?
A: We travel to Canada approximately 3% of the time. Traveling to Canada is optional and is only possible if you have a passport or passcard, but we pay an extra 6 cpm for these loads.
Q: How often do you travel to New York City?
A: We travel to NYC approximately 3% of the time. We do pay $75 borough pay if you have to go in to NYC.

Q: How long is on the job training?
A: On the job training is 14 days. All on the job training currently start on Sunday or Monday.
Q: What can I expect during on the job training?
A: On the job training consists of a DOT physical with Drug & Alcohol testing, road test, classroom learning, and load securement training.
Q: Will I be paid during on the job training?
A: Once you successfully complete training and accept the job as an over the road flatbed truck driver with Melton, you will receive a sign on bonus. You will also receive $90/day if you have to go out with a trainer.
Dispatch
Q: Can I choose which loads I take?
A: We are looking for drivers interested in serving all of our customers, so we do have a mandatory dispatch policy.
Q: What are the average miles I can expect to run per week?
A: Our fleet averages 2,200 to 2,500 miles per week.
Q: What is your out time?
A: Our average out time is 12-14 days, however, depending on where you live you may be out longer.
Q: What is the average length of haul?
A: Our average length of haul is around 1000 miles.
Equipment
Q: What kind of trucks do you have?
A:We have a fleet of late model Kenworth, Freightliner and Peterbilts. They all have 72” walk
in sleepers with 42x80 double bunks. We trade our trucks on a four-year cycle.
We have both 10 speed and automatic transmissions.
Q: What types of trailers do you have?
A: We have 48’ and 53’ spread axle flatbed trailers and 53’ stepdeck trailers.

Q: When do my benefits start?
A: Health coverage begins 60 days + the 1st of the month after your hire date. The 2021 premium rates are as follows:

Q: Does Melton offer paid vacation?
A: Drivers receive one week of paid vacation after one year of employment, two weeks after two years, and three weeks after ten years. Vacation pay is based on average weekly wages and is paid on a regular pay check.
Q: Can I have a rider or pet on the truck with me?
A: Yes! Melton has a liberal rider and pet program. You can have one rider year round if they’re 18+ years old or you can have your child ride with you as long as they are 10+ years old during the summer months. You can also bring your cat or dog under 80 lbs with you as well.
Pay
Q: How can I get my paycheck?
A: You can choose to have your pay direct deposited in to your bank accounts or loaded to your ComData card.
Q: How often will I be paid?
A: Pay for drivers is every Friday.
Q: How will you determine my pay?
A: Pay is based on previous driving experience and raises are based on productivity and OTR experience.
